Malissa (Missy) Maggard began her career in 1994 as a city letter carrier in the Indianapolis Post office working at Castleton and Nora Stations. In 1995, she transferred home to Kokomo PO for 15 more years. In March 2010, she was promoted to SCS in Peru. She has been OIC at levels 16, 18, 20 and 21. In 2016 she was promoted to PM North Manchester Level 20. In 2022 she became PM of Logansport Level 21.
She has been a facilitator for Welcome to USPS, Postmaster Essentials, Street Management and the Yellow Belt/ Operational Excellence third week of the New Supervisor Program. She has served as Route Examiner and Team Leader for the Route Count and Inspection Team, Level 3 Function 4 reviewer, and taught 1838s and 3999s all over the state. Malissa is Yellow and Green Belt certified.
She joined NAPUS as an associate member as soon as she became OIC in 2008. That membership transitioned to UPMA when NAPUS and League merged. She has served the last 2 years as the Scholarship Chair and had the honor of presenting 10 total scholarships in honor of her mother, Barbara Burge who was the retired PM of Logansport. She also serves as a CMR and is the current At-Large Vice President of Legislative/PAC. She has thoroughly enjoyed attending the Legislative Conference 3 times and is looking forward to leading the next one in 2026.
In her time away from work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Scott Maggard, city carrier Kokomo and daughter Allison Morgan. She loves to garden and spend time in the family pool. She and Scott have seen their St Louis Cardinals play in 8 stadiums and have bucket list plans to visit all 30.
